Update: After a few years, the CD drive has started to malfunction occasionally.I still use it for PROGRAM play because the LCD screen is lit, but if I don' t need to see the track numbers, I use a cheap, portable CD player with the headphone jack connected to the auxiliary jack on the NAXA.The player is on a slightly warped countertop, so sometimes it tilts a bit if I press the buttons for the casette player. There are two tweeters on each speaker, but I don't know whether they work or they're just decoration. The Naxa's sound is weird while I'm slowly turning the volume knob. I'll have stereo sound, then just one speaker, then just the *other* speaker. and then finally stereo again.Once I get back to stereo, the sound quality is very good. I use the bass boost.Naxa should add a volume control to the remote.Volume controls are the most important ones, aside from 'Play' and 'Stop'.I still recommend this boombox. It has better sound than my Coby did and lasted longer. The sound quality is about equal to a more expensive Sony I have that doesn't have an auxiliary jack like the Naxa.I also have Philips computer speakers with better sound than all of them. (Philips SPA8210/37 with Woox bass radiators. Bought from Revain.).This NAXA boombox has good sound from the CD player, tape deck, radio, and auxillary jack.I really like being able to plug my iPod into the front to play MP3s through speakers instead of earbuds.I also like having a digital display that shows exactly which radio station is playing. (Sometimes I wish I could turn the brightness down, though. I feel like I'm wasting electricity.)The remote doesn't have many functions, but that makes it conveniently tiny. It fits in your pocket. On the downside, there's no indication of the volume level until you play something. If someone messed with the volume knob, you can't tell by looking. So you might hit play and get blasted with loud music if you don't turn the knob down as a precaution. My only big problem is that the player is so light with the batteries taken out and the speakers detached that pushing buttons on the tape deck moves the whole player.I'm afraid it will tip over and break!
