Not powerful enough for the AKG 612 or AKG 702 headphones. Crank it up all the way and it *just* started to get there. The other issue is that the sound isn't really warm enough for my liking and is actually harsh. If you're using power-hungry headphones (you're buying an amp, right?), you're saving up for a more powerful amp. This *puts* the earphones, which are easier to eat, in your ears. Will they power your headphones? Yes. Will this offer the best performance for hard drive headphones? no This amp seems to lack power in the mid-range, leaving you with an amp that's loud but thin and punchy. Basically, it doesn't sound like much. Compared to my mixer's headphone output, it's noticeably and regrettably weak. Too powerful for easy-to-use headphones and not powerful enough for anything else.
