Not powerful enough for the AKG 612 or AKG 702 headphones. Crank it up all the way and it *just* started to get there. The other issue is that the sound isn't really warm enough for my liking and is actually harsh. If you're using power-hungry headphones (you're buying an amp, right?), you're saving up for a more powerful amp. This *puts* the earphones, which are easier to eat, in your ears. Will they power your headphones? Yes. Will this offer the best performance for hard drive headphones? no

Excellent audio quality for the home

I have used it as a headphone amp connected to my computer and it works very well. The headphone amp is powerful and makes all my ears louder than I want to hear. HOWEVER I don't have anything extremely difficult to handle. An unexpected benefit is how good my bookshelf speakers sound. Connected to the RCA outputs I have an SMSL SA-50 powering a pair of Micca MB42X. The combination of SA-50 and MB42X used to be good but a bit bass heavy, but after installing the SD793II the sound is much moreโ€ฆ

and still love. I use it for my TV sound.

I've had it for half a year now and I still like it. I use it to output sound to my TV instead of an AV receiver. It doesn't require a receiver and is much smaller and cheaper. I use it to receive optical output from my 65 inch Samsung 8500 TV. From this SMSL box, I navigate to the volume control with an MCM remote control. $38 (MCM part number 50-8394). From the MCM volume control through the RCA jacks to my PreSonus 10" powered subwoofer ($400) and from the subwoofer to my Tannoy 502 poweredโ€ฆ

From bells and whistles to what I needed

I use these to power an Audio Technica m40x kit which the website says is 35 ohms. I used to use a full-blown home theater receiver to power my headphones, but since I no longer have a surround setup, it's become unwieldy and unnecessary. I can say that the sound has improved compared to my previous setup but hasn't gotten any worse and gets pretty loud regardless of the source. I connected it to my computer with an optical cable. One thing I had trouble with was I was still sending dolby andโ€ฆ

Gray cable goes to Bluray player

I really like this thing. For the price, nothing comes close to this sound quality. You'll have to spend significantly more money to get better sound quality beyond what this device offers. I would give 5 stars but my first module was DOA. After returning it the money was refunded and I ordered a new one which was a bit of a hassle but it happens. The second block works fine. I use it in conjunction with an SMSL SA-60 60WPC amp to run a mini-stack for all my desktop audio needs. This is how itโ€ฆ
