Review on 🎧 Silver SMSL SD793-II PCM1793 DIR9001 DAC Digital Audio Decoder Amplifier by Michael Moonin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Gray cable goes to Bluray player

I really like this thing. For the price, nothing comes close to this sound quality. You'll have to spend significantly more money to get better sound quality beyond what this device offers. I would give 5 stars but my first module was DOA. After returning it the money was refunded and I ordered a new one which was a bit of a hassle but it happens. The second block works fine. I use it in conjunction with an SMSL SA-60 60WPC amp to run a mini-stack for all my desktop audio needs. This is how it works; The audio signal is transmitted from the PC to the SD793-II (DAC) via a Toslink cable. Then the signal is transmitted from the SD793-II (DAC) to the SMSL SA-60 (AMP) using two S/PDIF cables. driving the speakers. The difference to my previous onboard sound (maximus VII Impact) is very noticeable. When my brother first heard it, he immediately noticed that the sound quality had changed. This setup also gives me independent volume controls for my speakers and headphones. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. Power User Tip: The SD793-II has two LEDs, one on the left for power and one on the right for source. On the right display, red means the Toslink input is active and green means the S/PDIF input is active. If you switch the inputs to an inactive source, the left LED will turn off (either red or off). This setup also gives me independent volume controls for my speakers and headphones. Overall I am very happy with this purchase.
