After the first two tests it read 7.0 and I've read reviews that the meter always reads 7.0 regardless of the actual pH. I decided to do a test. I took soil from one of the previously measured spots, added 1 tablespoon of vinegar to the soil, dampened the soil with water as directed, mixed and tested. The meter reads 6.5. I did the fourth test, added 2 tablespoons of vinegar to the soil, moistened, mixed and the counter read 5.8. So my meter works. If others are skeptical or concerned that their meter is broken or not working properly, you can try what I did before returning your meter for a refund or replacement.
