Yes, it's a shame that I still need something like this, but this device works perfectly. Plug and play - plugged into my USB port and in a matter of seconds the good old A drive was up and running. Roughly twice as fast as the old "standard" floppy drive it replaces (both reading and writing). I only use "high density" floppy disks (that's quite a relative term, isn't it? :P ), so I can't talk about lower density floppy disks. If you are "stuck in the past" and need to use a floppy drive, I highly recommend this Memorex device.
