Works with a limited purpose: short-term hair coloring. I have brown hair and while I haven't had much luck with any of the other lightening products or hair dye I've found at Revain, this product really turned my hair purple. As mentioned earlier, it adds color to your hair, thus changing the texture of your hair as if you were using a coloring hairspray. But for something short-term, like a concert or a competition, being brunette helps too.
