I used the supplied adhesive to attach the charger/magnetic holder to the top of the center console. It holds the phone well, charges reliably and in the 1,000 miles I've used so far the phone has never come close to drifting. There are 2 caveats: The base mount ball adapter is rather small so it doesn't offer much resistance to twisting or moving. And this is an Apple FYI and not a product issue. Due to the nature of magnets, you cannot easily adjust your phone when it is attached with a magnet. If you need to make an adjustment, you need to take it off and then put it back on at the right angle.
