Review on πŸ”’ Big Horn 19851 Fence Clamp Review: A 2-Pack for Securing 1-1/2-Inch to 3-Inch Fences by Ron Turner

Very useful but not very powerful.

The advantage of this clamp is that it fits into a hole on the edge of the item to be clamped rather than being in the way from above. However, the downside is that it's not stiff enough to withstand much clamping pressure. The thin steel body is too flexible. In addition, small handles still do not allow to turn it with great effort. With moderate clamping force, the frame will flex about 1/4 inch. Of course, you probably won't use these clamps for anything that requires a lot of pressure, but they could still make them a little stronger. I bought two pairs and they are both quite well made. The screws are properly shaped and turn smoothly, and the frames are properly shaped, nothing is aligned. There aren't many ways they can go wrong when making something this simple, but poor manufacturing seems to be the order of the day these days. Fortunately, that's not the case here. The instructions say these clamps fit a 7/16" hole, but I've found 25/64" to fit much better. You can insert it into a 3/8 inch diameter hole, but it will be very difficult to remove. As you can see in the photo, I used my clamps to convert a hand screw wood clamp into a portable vise.
