I use to light up a small Christmas village instead of standard 7 watt white light bulbs. I connected about 4 LED lights with zip ties and attached them to the building. Then they lined up two or three lightbulbs on the neighboring building and tied them back together. The effect of illuminated buildings with ambient lighting between the buildings. One strand made three buildings and then pulled the second over two other buildings. The light isn't as "warm" as regular 7W non-LED bulbs, but they're ok. The timer function is ideal (middle switch position -- OFF TIMER ON). Batteries are easy to hide under the cotton "snow". I don't know how long the batteries will last but I'm happy with the light. The set contains 5 individual threads with 20 bulbs each. Each string uses three AA batteries. Since I only needed two threads for my village, I have three threads left for expansion or backup. Very happy with this product.
