Review on Crucial BX 240GB SATA CT240BX500SSD1 SSD by Danuta Podhajska ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best deals, glad I bought this.

The purchase was influenced by this article who will need to find it by keywords here is an excerpt :-) "What do we end up with? In my instance, the NAND memory withstood almost 1.5 PB of writes without using the backup cells. The reason for the breakdown turned out to be different, most likely - in the failure of the controller. 01/26/2022. By chance, I made diagnostics of this SSD in the workshop in order to find out who to blame, on the controller or, say, the power system. Still a controller. Power is supplied, and it is even warm (not hot) when it is turned on, but it does not show signs of life. All this suggests that NAND wear is not the bottleneck of SSD drives in terms of reliability and durability. TLC cells, once received with caution, now have a very solid resource. My specific example shows that troubles can be expected from a completely different side - from the controller, for example. Or from the firmware. As for the Crucial BX500, in the test on 3DNews it has already rolled over 1.6 PB, and will probably live for more, it is quite possible that it will be able to show even 2 PB. In any case, the excess of the guaranteed resource by 20 times indicates that these figures, voiced in the specifications, are underestimated, and very much underestimated"

Pros
  • Capacity and price, high-quality micron-produced memory cells with a probable rewriting resource of up to 1.5 petabytes ! (possibly even higher - but this is not certain)
Cons
  • They say that it is heated, respectively, it must be isolated from other heating components
