If you are splicing wires on items stored in a potentially humid environment such as B. my lawn mower in my detached garage, cover the splice with heat shrink tubing. I recently converted my garden tractor. I connected the terminals by soldering the wires together and then applying heat shrink tubing with a hair dryer. It was a difficult process even with an ultra-portable soldering iron like the very popular TS100. If I had some of these connectors handy, rewinding would be much faster. These connectors are suitable for both stranded and solid wires. I did a test crimp with 18 gauge wire (see photo). The connection was strong, the shrink tubing was even and tight. There is no way to break this connection. I think these are very high quality plugs. As long as you use a decent crimping tool and match the connector size to the wire gauge, these connectors won't disappoint.
