I bought this VTech CS6529-4B cordless phone system to replace a Uniden system that I have owned for eight years. The VTech system has slightly better sound and speaker quality and has all the features you would expect from a budget cordless phone system. The only thing I don't like is the LCD backlight. The lighting is just too dim to see the screen well indoors during the day. VTech should switch to white LEDs and use brighter white LEDs for the LCD backlight. The illumination of all keys is satisfactory. A very nice feature is the battery life. This VTech system has a so-called Eco mode, in which the RF transmission power of the phone is automatically reduced when the phone is close to the base station. This results in a very good battery life for very long calls, even if you use the hands-free function intermittently. Look for a similar feature on other brands. As already mentioned, the base station's wall mount is pretty ugly. That doesn't bother me since I didn't mount the base station on the wall. Conclusion: Positive: Very good equipment and very good battery life. Cons: Dim display backlight and really ugly wall mount.
