Works good but stinks to high heaven

I bought these pads to absorb vibration but not from the washer or dryer. I record a podcast and I use a pretty decent mic I keep on my desk. The problem is that the microphone picks up vibrations from my desktop tower, which is under the table. I needed something to absorb the vibrations caused by my computer. I bought a set of four of these pads. The first thing that struck me was how awful they smell. The smell is very penetrating. I washed them in dish soap and then air dried them in the sun. (Sunlight can sometimes kill odors.) The pods still smelled bad. Then I took one, put it in a cloth bag and put it under the microphone. I placed the other three under the tower of my desktop PC. While recording my podcast, I still smelled the stinky rubber pad under my mic even though it was in a cloth pouch. Ultimately, my idea didn't work and my mic was still picking up vibrations from my PC. They can be good for absorbing strong vibrations from a washer or dryer, but they didn't absorb or dampen subtle computer vibrations. And no matter what I tried, I couldn't make her stink any less. I ended up sending the pads back. The seller deducted $4 from my refund to cover the return shipping. Well, I should try them for $4, but at least I don't have $20.

Pros
  • Vibration dampening pads
Cons
  • Some small things
