Review on ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Black Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Wireless Desktop Keyboard and Mouse - L5V-00001 by Jose Gerber

Here are my thoughts after 6 years of use

I'm a software developer. I've had this keyboard and mouse since July 2014. And I've had numerous jobs that provide a keyboard and mouse, including with a company that gave me a $220+ Logitech Ergo + MX vertical mouse combo asked, which I spent a month on. to get used to something; Their philosophy is that the longer you can keep a developer's hands on the keyboard, the better. And a month later I was still bringing this sculpt combo from home. Let me tell you why. This keyboard is very comfortable to type on; I can no longer type on a non-wave or split keyboard without feeling uncomfortable very quickly after getting used to this keyboard. I have a cool and expensive mechanical keyboard that I hardly ever use for that reason and only use it for gaming. The Logitech my company gave me is also typing friendly, but the keyboard or mouse alone costs more than this Sculpt combo. This sculpt mouse also fits my hand almost perfectly. Due to the high curvature, it naturally fits in my hand. Unlike my gaming mouse, my hand should be flatter and have more of my palm rubbing against the table. The high curves of this mouse reduce the surface to table ratio. While I like the vertical MX mouse's scroll wheel, I don't like having to rub much of the surface of my hand against the table, from pinky to wrist. This is where the Sculpt mouse really shines for me. It just fucking fits! I wish everyone could find a mouse that fits your hand perfectly like I can. Difficult to work with any other productivity mouse. Now let me talk about the cons. The rubber on my mouse looks absolutely disgusting. The wrist webbing of the keyboard is badly worn. But I'm the only one touching it, so I don't care what other people say as long as I'm comfortable. I definitely wish the materials were better and I hope Microsoft releases a new version of it. But considering I've been using it 5 days a week for 6 years, it definitely lasts. However, I believe this mouse is finished. Mouse battery life is shorter. The same mAh batteries that powered this mouse for 6-8 months can now only run 3. Not to mention that I sometimes have to tap the mouse a few times to get it to work at all. So I think some internal wires are loose resulting in inefficient battery drain or no power. I think in 6 years it will probably be time. I hope it takes Microsoft or someone else another year to come up with a mouse of a similar shape but made of better material. The keyboard is still okay, only the palm rest fabric is worn and I have to put the fabric back in the corner every now and then. The battery life seems to be good though. (Update: I've officially put this mouse out of its misery. RIP July 2014 - November 2020)
