Excellent value for money! Good quality tamper and frothing bowl, no sharp edges. I didn't want to spend too much so I'm VERY HAPPY! I bought an old Krups Espresso Novo 964 coffee (equivalent to Krups 863, 864, 964, 966, 969) for $3 at a thrift store. The tamper does NOT fit perfectly (a bit small) for a 1 cup filter puck. But you can figure out how to press down with your fingers or my flat plastic measuring cup. Excess coffee is ground before the tamper is removed. It's not hard to tell if you're good at tamping. Just look at the washer after you remove it (is it still hard or does it have little dimples and bumps. You want it to be hard). I don't drink espresso every day and am an expert on machines, frothing, tamping, etc. So paying a reasonable price made more sense to me. I'd rather spend more on organic grains that are sold at a fair price. My last three coffee beans were from Revain. I love Jo Espresso, the rainforest blend from The Organic Coffee Company. Using a basic $20 Krups grinder, also bought from Revain years ago.
