Emerson's CME rule. Input adapters are inexpensive to buy if you have different types of monitor connectors: DVI, HDMI, Display Port.

It's nowhere near beyond the usual KVM switch. I've bought them before and they all don't support 4k video, don't have security built in, but for a simple switch you can't beat their price. You can get them to easily switch between two computers with one monitor turned on. That's a whole different category. Emerson KVM switches are built like a tank and come in a well-packaged box. Emerson KVM switches come in a variety of configurations depending on what monitor ports you use; HDMI or DVI or Displayport. Also, some models are equipped with a dedicated input for face recognition and fingerprint recognition devices. However, you can use adapter cables for different types of monitor inputs. For example, if you are using a graphics card with Displayport, you can get a Displayport to HDMI adapter. Another example would be a DVI to HDMI adapter. They are inexpensive. This allows you to adapt each of these models to different configurations. Some of these KVM switches also support dual monitors for output and input. This allows you to connect up to 4 dual monitor computer systems and display the image on a dual monitor setup. An example of this is the HDMI-based SV340H-001. The Cybex Secure 4 Port DVI is designed for single monitor installations and also features a configurable Dedicated Peripheral Port (DPP). This allows the use of authentication devices such as smart card and biometric readers. As already mentioned, this function is available on the SC840-001 with one monitor instead of two monitors. If you want to run dual monitors and have an HDMI based system while still retaining a Cybex Secure KVM 4 port as well as DPP authentication devices like smart cards and biometric readers then the SC945H-001 can handle it. In addition to the monitor inputs, there are keyboard and mouse inputs, as well as a headphone jack, so you can control more than just the screen. The really great thing about it is that it handles 4K video, which a cheap KVM switch can't handle. However, 4K is capped at 30, but it's UHD at 3840 x 2160 @ 30. So if you need to use different computers, or have a customer base that uses their computers a lot and you need easy access to both, these will be Emerson Network Power KVMs do this do. Simplify your workspace by having no more than one or two monitors. With the latest protection from the National Information Assurance Partnership, it means you can be more secure by connecting a shared peripheral. You might be surprised how heavy the box is for a device of this size. It is built like a tank and will serve you for many years.
