Slightly disappointed with this gate. We bought a very wide version of this gate and it was very good so we assumed this one would be identical. Instead, the locking mechanism is very cumbersome and not the easiest to operate with one hand. Because they are designed for openings from 28 to 38 inches, the gate itself is only about 18 inches wide, making it difficult to pass through easily. Because it's so narrow you'll almost inevitably open it all the way, meaning the gate will get stuck in the open position, and when you close it it usually swings with enough force to disengage the latch and close. top swings in the opposite direction and then gets stuck in the open position. I keep stopping to check to make sure it latches properly which is a shame because the other North State product we have is the complete opposite! Avoid this gate, it's just a pain in the ass.
