This is a great little tool that comes out of the box, but a few simple tweaks make it even better. I first used a stone course to get rid of the powder coating on the blade and then sharpened the blade. The handle was too slippery so I used a rasp to roughen it up and give it some grip. As others have reported, when you use the ax to chop the saw blade will try to open, so I added some ranger bands to prevent this. I also just wrapped a piece of #18 bench cord around my neck. Finally, the nylon sheath that came with the kit is just awful, I ripped it apart with my hands and made a functional sheath out of leather scraps. I am planning on upgrading the saw blade, looks like there is enough room to fit a spare blade in the handle and it will be very secure with all those ranger straps. The smallest slot on the blade acts as a bit holder, but the bits just fall out, so I plan to put a tiny magnet in the hole to hold the bits in. One problem I can't solve is that the hammer/claw bits are in the perfect place to cut your wrist when trying to use the saw. Plus, it's ready to use right out of the box!
