I used two of these 140mm industrial fans, perhaps for a rather unusual purpose. I use these fans as gable fans in my 11 x 11 foot plastic shed. The My Lifetime Shed has vents built into each gable. I have a 50w solar panel on the roof connected to a charge controller and a 12v deep cycle battery and this battery powers my two fans in series via a 12v digital thermostat. I installed fans inside the shed just in front of each gable opening and positioned them so that one fan (on the shady north side of the shed) pulled some cooler outside air into the shed and one fan at the other end of the shed (on the hotter, sunnier south side) pushes the hot air out of the shed. This push-pull arrangement appears to maximize air movement and cooling effect in the shed. These fans are very efficient, only drawing about 1/3 amp each. They have very high RPMs, efficient little air motors, and are surprisingly quiet considering how fast they spin and move air. The noise in the barn didn't bother me, but I was still happy with the relatively low noise level. With the sealed bearing assembly on these fans, I don't have to worry about being exposed to dust or moisture outdoors. My single 12 volt battery powered by my single 50w solar panel can stay fully charged even with those fans running 16-18 hours a day in the summer heat. I love these fans! These are ultra-fast, ultra-efficient, and relatively quiet air motors.
