I have a 15 year old Zojirushi rice cooker that cooks 2 to 10 cups of dried rice, but now that there are just the two of us I always have leftover rice. Step into this Miniature Aroma Mi Rice Cooker that cooks less rice just as well as my much more expensive stovetop. At just 7.5 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter, this rice cooker takes up almost no space in my closet or counter. a cup that is about 3/4 of a measuring cup. (That's a little less than my Zojirushi cup, which is also less than 1 measuring cup.) Don't waste your cup! There are lines for measuring water consumption in the dark non-stick tray; Lines can be difficult to see. With an accurate measurement of a maximum of 1.5 cups of jasmine rice and the required water, the Mi Cooker is filled to the brim with crumbly rice. The first time I let it warm for an hour and it came out with no crust or dry patches. The cooking time is about 20-25 minutes. The non-stick bowl isn't as non-stick as you'd like, but it's still easy to clean. Although this rice cooker says it cooks more than just rice, it's limited in size and lacks additional controls. There are two other recipes in the instructions, one for pasta in tomato sauce and one for scrambled eggs. Besides, you're on your own. Even on the Aroma website, it doesn't offer recipes typical of a no-frills little stove that only has two modes: boil and reheat. If you want to make recipes that go beyond regular white rice and the two included recipes, be prepared to experiment. There are very few instructions in the manual. This product page states that the bowl is dishwasher safe, but nowhere in the aroma brochure is cleaning and maintenance mentioned. I took off half a star for the bad manual. The lid snaps into place during cooking and can remain locked if you lift the handles to carry. Especially if you use it to cook or heat up soup, it's a great gadget to take to work or school for a hot lunch. As far as I can tell, the plug isn't detachable, so you'll have to wrap it around the handles when transporting and then plug it in at your destination. , add some olive oil before cooking. I make jasmine rice almost exclusively and it spits out this mush no matter how well I rinse the rice and no matter what type of rice cooker I use and no matter how much/little I cook. The oil minimizes the formation of bubbles. I have included photos of the coffee mug to give you an idea of its size. Especially considering the price, this is a wonderful and reliable rice cooker that's perfect for one or two people. Unless I have company, despite Zoji's greater versatility, I expect to use Mi more than my Zojirushi. Most of the time I just want my jasmine rice. - Debbie Lee Wesselman
