I bought this little sun canopy to cover a box or my car. I bought a 12'x12' solar roof at the same time. When we went to the Los Angeles area for dog testing in late November, temperatures ranged from a high 70°F to a low 80°F. The canopy offered good shade but still let the wind in, so we felt fairly chilly. My wife, I and my dog will not be able to be in the car from 9am to 6pm without a sun canopy. I can only recommend the sunroof for outdoor activities. The 12" x 12" size is great for your minivan, while the 6" x 12" size is perfect for a panel van or small sedan.
