I bought this product because my 580EX2 was starting to go crazy. Not having the means to afford another 580EX2 or 600EX-RT at the time, I did some research and decided to purchase a Sigma EF-610 DG SUPER. I've read reviews that Flash seems cheap. I disagree, it looks good and feels good. We've gotten so old that we consider Canon products to be standard (and with good reason). So if it doesn't look or feel like canon, it's no good. The plastic battery cover was another issue for other reviewers, I'm sure this cover will last as long as my EOS Canon 7D's battery cover. I don't buy lightning to drop on the floor. Standing 8 feet tall, I wasn't worried about whether it could withstand the impact of an 8 foot drop onto concrete before I bought it. My biggest concern was whether this product would trigger my other Canon flashes if I used it as a master. Well it runs on all 420ex, 550ex and 580ex2. The menu navigation on the back is simple, you don't even need to consult the manual. It has everything I need. It compares well to the 580EX2 and is much more powerful than the 430EX2. The exposure is exactly the same as my 580EX2. If I'm to blame for the Sigma, the flash head can't tilt up and down in increments like the Canon. It has an angle that it locks into place when adjusted up and falls back when not adjusted to that specific angle. When purchasing a product, you need to consider the cost. For the price this is a great product. I would still buy it even if it cost a bit more (I'm a Canon Purist fan by the way). but there are times when an urgent need must be satisfied. I am happy with my purchase. I can't say anything about durability yet. Another anon.
