After trying the cheap $10 option that failed miserably, I was determined to find something that just worked, even if it cost a little more than I wanted to spend. Let me tell you, I'm so glad I spent the extra few dollars! The thing is so good. I use it a little less traditionally. I got the idea from one of the reviews here where they set their projector to this and then to T-Track. I tweaked the design a bit as I wanted this thing to be really strong, and it is. I put on maybe most of my weight and clung to this thing for a split second to make sure it wasn't going anywhere. It didn't move. Now I can move the camera to almost any position for up and down shots! If I need more range, I can just add more T-Track and BAM. This mount uses the standard AMPS 30 x 38mm mounting pattern. Mine also had three additional triangular holes. I used some M3 bolts and nuts, I think they were 12mm long. The M4 screws just fit through the holes, but I needed a bit of wiggle room to allow for easy use of a hand drill instead of a drill press to drill through. Center. The elbow joint has serrations to keep it in place and there's a small knurling pattern on the ball joint to really keep things in place. The camera and lens only weigh about 1.5 pounds here, but I can tell you this thing can carry a lot more weight if the need arises. Not just hold, but CLOSE. I was very impressed with this mount so I bought a different model Arkon mount to complete the setup.
