Very cheaply made. It's very difficult to focus on anything. Difficult to get enough light. I am a trained professional microscopist and it took me at least 10 minutes to see one of the samples sent in. I finally have my focus, but the focus controls are so loose that as soon as you release them, the stage goes down an inch and the subject is badly out of focus again. Not recommended at all, but definitely not for a child under 10 years old. Used for an hour with the nephew they bought for. He was very excited but completely disinterested after our use because he couldn't see anything even when I did the work and handed him over. Save your money! I think a decent/serviceable school-style microscope costs around $300-$500, but it's worth it if you know your kid loves science.
