First, overall this is a great printer for the price. My son loves it and kept tapping on it until the device exploded with a bang and a puff of blue smoke. the plate is inserted and the heated plate itself is exposed. Normally there would be no problem - EXCEPT - attaching the build plate to a heated aluminum platform that is made up of two separate parts. The longer one contains multiple binding clips. Black triangular metal clips with chrome metal levers that fold back allowing you to pinch/open the clip and then fold forward to the side. (If my description is confusing, google "binding clip" to see what I'm talking about.) The problem with this design flaw is that my son had trouble removing the print from the print surface and not messing it up wanted to. He leveled and attempted to pry it while still attached to the heated bed, removed the clamps and removed the printable surface from the heated bed. He detached the print from the surface, put it back in the printer, attached the binding clips that hold the print surface in place, and folded the clips back under the bed. Clap! The metal arms of one of the clamps hit the heated platform contacts, shorting out the ENTIRE printer. The printer does NOT appear to contain any fuses. Smoke came out of the touch screen. Looking inside the control unit, we saw burn marks on one of the chips on the motherboard. The SD card that was in the printer at the time was dead. A short circuit disabled all components. If the printer used fuses, simply replacing the fuses would have saved the printer. So without her, everything burned down and had to be returned. user error? Like, like, something like? I've included a photo of the underside of the bed showing the exposed connectors. You can see scratches where the clamps are attached and removed, and burn marks on some of the terminals where the clamp lever touched them. It's a good printer, but it has a safety-related design flaw that buyers should be aware of. Office I bought a new printer to replace the dead printer and returned the dead printer. The downside is just something to be aware of, not something that would put me off replacing it with the same model.
