Review on 🌬️ Pacific Sky Power Gen Project by Ryan Lawson

The technical design is really bad. the armature shaft is not suspended from the ball.

Technical design is really bad. The armature shaft is not suspended on ball bearings and therefore does not rotate easily. The shaft is only 2mm in diameter so I had to put a bushing on it to allow the 4mm pulley to fit snug enough to be securely attached to the shaft. Due to the lack of bearings, a lot of external power had to be applied to the shaft to get it to spin at a high enough speed to light a low wattage (0.1W) 12V lightbulb. This generator was used in a freshman science project on how to use wind to generate electricity. I had to use a hand drill to spin the windmill shaft fast enough to generate enough power to light a small 12 volt indicator light. I wish I could find a generator that uses bearings even if it costs more. hard lesson.

Pros
  • Good motor for DIY wind turbine
Cons
  • Discontinued model
