Review on πŸ”§ Enhanced Performance Brake Caliper Set S4790 - Powder Coated for Ford by Ryan Judy

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great product but it takes a bit of finesse to match it.

All parts fit well. After some tweaking everything is working and the improvements I was looking for are obvious. I had a small problem with my original calipers and instead of trying to figure out if it was the slider, hose or caliper I bought all the new parts. First brake job and aftermarket brake installation on every car I've owned. Some points for others to consider and the reason I didn't give five stars. 1. The powder coating caused some problems getting the correct clearance for the driver side brake caliper bracket (none on the passenger side), specifically the inner lower stainless brake shoe bracket had light contact with the rotor. The driver's side caliper bracket bolts were significantly overtightened (bracket and caliper come assembled) and required a full size torque wrench to loosen them (normal torque for these assembled bolts is only 42 ft-lbs). Again the passenger side was fine.3. The passenger side caliper bypass valve was also overtightened and was easier to loosen if the caliper was installed with all bolts tightened.4. Although all the caliper sliders were lubricated with "premium silicone", I felt it wasn't enough. So I added brake lube (CRC Ceramic Silicone) to the slide pins, which greatly improved smoothness. There are no instructions or torque specifications included with the product, but my Haynes manual gave me what I needed.

Pros
  • Calipers and parts
Cons
  • Vulgarity
