Seemed accurate enough for 2 months. After that, when you open it, it reads about 15 degrees below ambient temperature. I tested it in an ice bath and it read about 18 degrees Fahrenheit. But there was no way to fix it. Thrown away. If I try a different digital thermometer every time, it must have a calibration function. UPDATE 11/01/2020: I am changing my rating to 5 stars. Nycetek took note of my concerns above and sent me an updated version (see photo) free of charge. The new version allows the user to calibrate the instrument in an ice bath. I've tried it and it's easy to do. I then tested my coffee with both the new Nycetek version and the more expensive American thermal foam. They differed by less than 1 degree at 158 degrees Fahrenheit. I am completely satisfied with the new calibrated version from Nycetek and appreciate their attentive customer service.
