2* because it works. Technically. If they didn't work at all I would have to take one star so I have to give 2. But hardly. I had some decent Altec Lansing speakers but they played up. Thought to try this. They give up that they don't look like "professional" speakers or powered subwoofers. Okay, that's like saying the Geo Metro doesn't look like a Ferrari. It is not. And it's not like most other cars. The monitor/screen speakers I have are just as good as these. My iPhone speakerphone is probably just as good. There's just no bass. I know it's $20-$30, but somehow Bose makes the base out of smaller speakers. You get what you pay for and I didn't pay much but I don't even think it was $20-30. Lesson learned, just spend a few extra dollars and buy something decent. It says "USB powered!" Yippies. Obviously this does NOT look like a powered subwoofer or speaker system. I bought a USB power hub especially for this. I'll exit the hub (charge phones or whatever) but the speakers were plugged in for about 60 seconds. Tried radio. I tried videos on YouTube. It sounded like everything Twitter. And bad tweeter. Then I put on XM Sirius Hip-Hop (to find something with bass). There is no bass at all. As bad as that hip-hop song was, it was even worse with these speakers. If you just need *something*, it is something. But I would suggest spending a few bucks more and getting something better.
