God I must have watched 100 videos before I received the kit. I felt educated and prepared, but damn I was wrong. The gauge of these needles is 14g so the same gauge as on the stick so I had to buy 13g needles even though the stick fitted the thread perfectly. By the way, pricking with a needle was not painful at all, it went immediately. I was not deaf and in no pain. The downside is that if you do this on yourself, you won't be able to mark yourself properly and determine exactly where to place the clamp. I ended up grabbing too much skin in the clamp. The correct way to pierce is to pierce from the bottom up so you can thread the stick through the needle. So it's scary and difficult to look from below when trying to push the needle through. You also risk the needle going in crookedly. I thought I marked the clip correctly and put it in the middle. They pushed out the needle and inserted the wand, but it turned out to be too short! Although these strips were 1/2 instead of the usual 3/8, they still weren't long enough. I didn't want to risk swelling and infection or a stuck ball because the jewelry was too tight. So I took it out right away. Really sucks, but belly piercings are hard enough to heal once you've finished the tutorial, so it's better to play it safe than end up with a rejected piercing. I will pray I don't develop scar tissue and have it done professionally once it has fully healed. It's been about a week and healed well, no pain or bruising. It doesn't feel like hard scar tissue is forming and the holes are disappearing.
