My modem got very hot so I bought a DC splitter, some extra PC fan cables and this fan. (A. and soldering station. and solder. and heat shrink tubing. and flux. and.) I was able to solder the fan wire to one end of the DC power divider. That way I can connect the modem to one end and connect the fan to the other. The fan uses a 12V power supply, as do most things, like a modem. By splitting the power supply I now have a cool little rig to keep my modem cool and I don't have to add a second power supply. I found a DC switch on the mains so I can easily turn the fan on or off as needed. The modem now runs noticeably cooler, you can feel the air flowing through it. arctic fan, ftv!
