Affordable and effective tool for homebrewers

The bottling phase of homebrewing is the second most enjoyable part of the brewing process, if only because it's the last real action you take before enjoying your beer ( which is the most enjoyable aspect of the homebrewing process!). This tool is extremely simple - a thin metal tube (3/8"x14") is open on one side and has a spring-loaded tip. on the other end. The kit includes a sanitizing brush to clean the inside of the tube and a 6-foot food-grade plastic tube. On the day of bottling, you should first leave these items in Star San for a few minutes to ensure they are sterilized. Then simply attach the plastic tube to the spout of the watering bucket and attach the open end of the metal tube to the other end of the plastic tube. You can now fill your bottles. For this next step, your bottling bucket should be raised above your bottles. Simply hold the end of the metal tube near where it connects to the plastic tube - you don't want your hand touching the part of the metal tube that goes into your bottles as this can contaminate the beer. Insert the metal tube straight into the bottle and gently but firmly press it against the bottom of the bottle. The tip is pushed in and the bottle fills without foaming. Fill the bottle to the brim and remove the tube from the bottle. This stops the beer from flowing and removing the metal tube creates the perfect headspace in your bottle. (This tube is 3/8" in diameter, so not as thick as the others.) We were able to fill 27 34-ounce bottles of Kolsha in about 10 minutes, and my kids had a blast helping me. Highly recommend - there are higher quality fittings for larger batches, but pouring five gallons of beer at a time is fine.
