This mattress is not waterproof. The mattress is a memory foam covered with a mesh material. The mattress comes with a bamboo top cover, but only the top of the cover is covered with a water-repellent/waterproof material. The cover is made of soft fabric at the top and sides and has a transparent underside with non-slip nubs to prevent it from slipping. So be prepared to handle and wash your mattress cover when cleaning up after an accident. The quality is good and the mattress feels supportive and comfortable when placed on a firm base. Unfortunately, the ads are misleading, which makes me wonder about other benefits. I am very disappointed that the sides and back are not waterproof as urine and other liquids can roll down the sides of the mattress and pool in my crib. So there's no easy way to put it back in the box and send it back. I bought a fully waterproof case for it, which really increases the price of this item.
