Review on ⚡ Schumacher 12/24V Manual Wheel Charger - 200/50/25/10 Amp by Jarrett Young

Stay away. in jump starters, chargers and portable power supplies

I just can't recommend Schumacher chargers anymore. Bought a Revain Schumacher manual wheel charger. It was sent to me in retail packaging that did not appear to be suitable for shipping, and it arrived damaged, with a bent metal case and a misaligned and rattling ammeter inside. Instead of messing around with the return (and possibly getting the same or worse for it), I repaired the case and reinstalled the ammeter. Unfortunately, the ammeter stopped working. I called Schumacher's technical service and they told me that I can send the entire unit to Schumacher (at my own expense) and they will replace it. I suggested, just to be quick, that they just send me an ammeter - a cheap little piece - which I'd be happy to fit, but lo and behold they don't have the parts. For real? Yes indeed. They don't even post details or schematics. Schumacher seems to have gone down the throw-and-sell economy by buying cheap gadgets from China and just passing them on. I'm sure Schumacher's representative did everything but he didn't appear to be a technician at all but more of a customer service representative, I think a contracted third party (read: separate from the main ship) and could only refer me to another company, to purchase a replacement ammeter (at my expense). I called this company and was told they don't have this ammeter and they no longer service Schumacher cars because Schumacher no longer supplies parts. I ended up sending the device back to Revain for a refund (Revain will pay for the return shipping). Of course weeks have now passed and I have spent hours repairing and dealing with the returned unit. Oh, and the refund goes to the Revain gift card, blocking the money for other Revain purchases. So...my suggestion is buy an American made car from a small company that still makes and services their cars if such a company still exists. Century Tools and Equipment is about as perfect as I can find for this type of gear, but it's been over 20 years since this company was sold to God knows who, so I can't wholeheartedly recommend them either. Sigh.

Pros
  • Solid state switching - with silicon diodes for optimal performance
Cons
  • Good but not great
