Fresh green clean dry hay! Our guinea pigs love it! It was shipped in a sturdy box. We have nothing but praise for this small company and their product! However, hay in general can be very messy. I found a great tip online that helped us a lot so I thought I'd share it. When my hay box arrives, I take it outside or in the garage and stuff handfuls of hay into brown paper bags. A box of hay = 30+ servings of packed lunches. Then, when it's time to feed the piglets, I just stuff an open sack of hay into their cage. They like to climb into sacks to find their hay. This has SIGNIFICANTLY reduced the amount of hay that used to end up on our soil. Also, we thought my son might be allergic to guinea pigs. It turns out he's allergic to hay, not the therapist. Storing hay in bags also reduces airborne dust and allergens. Also, we always have a good idea of when to reorder hay because we can see how many sacks we have left and we know how long it takes our 2 guinea pigs to get through a sack.
