Review on KidCo K12 Stairway Gate Installation Kit 🚧 - Baby and Pet Barrier for Enhanced Safety by Jenny Thomas

I'm not sure if my handrail posts are mismatched or a defect with this product but they didn't really fit. Base. I looked at them and assumed they were 4x4's at the base (actually 3.5" x 3.5"). As it turned out, they were 3.75" x 3.75" and are just SLIGHTLY too big for the square brackets. I will say that the braces are made out of some pretty strong material (maybe nylon, not just plastic) so I was able to use a dremel to cut some material off the inside of the braces and they worked great after that. It's also not entirely clear at first what the orientation of the bracket should be, and attaching, removing and reattaching was too much for a screw head (it came loose) which resulted in too much work to carefully remove the remaining shaft and replace it. The idea is solid though, the railings are intact and the baby gate is reasonably secure when in place and while the hardware may not be of the best quality the brackets are actually made of a stronger material which is why I'm giving it 3 stars. If you feel relatively comfortable, this is a good option.
