In short, when assembled correctly the design is solid and turns effortlessly on low-pile carpet. The assembly requires care as the instructions are not 100% clear and a lot of patience. Long Comment: To be honest I checked the reviews here and noted the number of complaints from people trying to build shelves. Thanks to everyone who shared their comments. You helped me. You'll either need three pairs of hands and an extra eyestalk to hold everything in place, OR - glue both ends of the dowels and the surfaces that make up the joints, especially those that are bare wood. Wood is chipboard, so it's fragile: be careful of tightening the screws at the wrong angle or over-tightening. I used Gorilla Glue (transparent, semi-liquid). Two hours of glue curing should be enough to handle these two segments without fear of anything falling apart. Then the rest is pretty easy. Important: Take the time to figure out how to assemble the two center shelf sections (D and F), paying particular attention that the sections are not upside down. The instructions do not indicate how specific components should fit. Before you glue something, check it! Manufacturing defect: I found a problem with the metal bars. Those at the four corners are shorter by about 4mm. When the bottom plate is attached and everything is tightened, the upper and lower plates therefore hang slightly inwards (each about 2 mm). This isn't a problem for the baseplate, as the slight upward curve actually makes it easier to roll on the carpeted floor. You can notice that the top shelf curves down slightly by placing a ruler on it. This is a minor issue, but one that needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. Conclusion: Overall, the device cuts a fine figure and offers a decent storage capacity. For the price it's not bad. I received my order undamaged in less than a week in early December. It doesn't feel wobbly like some other reviewers have claimed. I caution against using the device on carpeted floors with thick padding which can make the device a bit unstable. At 144 CDs or 216 CDs I think it stands for sure, but I'm not sure it will spin freely. I only gave the device 3 stars because of the lack of clarity in the instructions and a manufacturing defect. .
