Review on Iomega EGo USB 2 by Flocka Parsons

Great Drive --- BUT DON'T FORGET TO REFORMAT IT!

After a month of researching portable hard drives and comparing drives from manufacturers like Toshiba, Seagate and Western Digital, I chose this drive mainly based on the review I read on cnet.com. Disk writes files very well fast and is very easy to use. I also bought a small black external hard drive case to store and protect the hard drive when not in use. They are made for each other! One point I should mention is that if you're using Windows, you MUST reformat the drive. The drive is formatted in FAT32 by default, which basically means it can be used on both Mac and PC. However, to make it work great with Windows, you need to format it in NTFS format. For example, on the first day of use I thought something was wrong with my drive because it would shut down from time to time as if it had been unplugged. After reading the online manual on the Iomega website, I realized that in order for it to really reach its full potential, it had to be formatted to NTFS. The Iomega website provides simple and direct advice on how to do this. However, it would be nice if Iomega informed people immediately. The drive comes with a quick start guide that basically just says "Plug in and start burning files" and doesn't even suggest formatting the drive in Windows. However, the online manual on the Iomega website suggests reformatting it right away for Windows users. In summary, this drive is fast, inexpensive and of course very stylish. Independent tests have shown it to work the best, but if you're using Windows, don't forget to reformat it!
