Helps prevent accidents

I bought this product to avoid a possible future car accident. A few times over the past few years I've almost gotten into an accident when I've changed lanes and didn't see the car behind me because it was in my blind spot. The newer car my wife drives has a blind spot warning system (lights come on in the side mirrors) and now I wouldn't buy another car without it. However, the old car I usually drive doesn't have blind spot monitoring. Although the installation is very easy, I spent about 20 minutes figuring out exactly where to put the small mirrors on each of the car's side mirrors. The directions didn't give any recommendations and the reviews on the Revain website showed different locations. So I experimented with double sided tape to temporarily place small mirrors in different places and also used a blue trash can behind my car in the driveway in the blind spot area (see photo). At first I was really amazed at how big my blind spot was and how well the little mirrors showed the blue trash can that wasn't visible at all in regular side mirrors, or even when I turned my head and looked like the car's C-pillars, both Sides blocked my view. For myself, I found that the best place to mount small mirrors on my car's side mirrors was on the bottom edge, halfway between the outside and inside edges, on both the driver and passenger sides. Small mirrors have an adjustable ball joint that allows you to tilt them up or down, left or right for fine adjustment. This is a really nice design feature as they don't work very well if you have to mount them flush with the surface of the side mirror itself. So far I am very happy with this product in terms of quality and ease of installation with 3M tape. My only concern is how the little mirrors will stand up to long washes and inclement weather. However, I think for $8 I can afford to replace them every year or so no matter how long they last. If these little mirrors help me avoid a car accident, then I'm pretty sure it's money well spent.
