This protects my IPhone 7 Plus with a protective Otterbox around it, meaning it fits snugly but isn't too tight. I like the velcro because it protects my phone and makes a nice "ripping!” sound when opening. I don't lose my phone while traveling! I usually use a metal hook that snaps into the front of the pants band and tuck the bottom into an open pocket of my travel pants. My phone is either in my hand or in a case. I never put it anywhere else. Works well. I think that with prolonged use, if only hanging, the metal bracket held by the firmware is likely to come loose. Of course, you can also simply slip the belt over your back.
