I bought this woodworking model because it has a dust collector. I'm a retired auto mechanic and have had a lot of experience with IR tools in the past. This one is a little disappointing as there is so much plastic inside. If you don't need the dust collection option I would consider one of the traditional DA grinders, although they are heavier they are also better made and last a long time. I also have a 5 inch electric reverse osmosis grinder (yellow) that is at least 10 years old and still works fine. I like air tools, I have a large compressor and thought this would be perfect for my situation. It's much quieter than an electric one, but the dust extraction doesn't work as well as an 8-hole electric grinder with a larger vacuum port. It's also not easy to find 6-inch 6-hole PSA paper unless you buy packs of 100 of each grit you want. . You can also purchase a velcro pad for this grinder, and H&L paper is readily available. I like that it doesn't require oil like most air tools, it's lightweight and seems to have a lot of power. This tool has many new features and I like it, but I expected better quality from IR. If, like me, you're buying for woodworking, electric might be your best option. This tool requires a minimum of 8 cfm and 12 cfm under load. My compressor is able to hit 19 cfm but is still running nearly half the time I grind. I don't think it's very economical compared to the 3 amp electric model. Using it in auto shops would be a different story entirely, power tools don't seem to hold up in these conditions and that would be ideal given their light weight, and auto shops always have big compressors running all day. mike
