I have a 50 gallon aquarium that has been running continuously for 36 years. About 6 months ago I replaced a pair of 15 year old Whisper 5 filters with a pair of Tidal 55s. These new filters have a retractable filter media container so I can choose my own. These material bags are fully compatible with these filters. I'm still experimenting with what to fill the media pack with and how many of them to use. So far I have used a media pack filled with activated carbon. There are many different combinations I can use. The zipper is nylon to keep it from rusting and the mesh material is great for holding materials like activated charcoal. Can't comment on durability yet as I haven't had it long enough to know. Update after two months of use: These mesh pockets have proven themselves. I've had to change the media inside a few times and all I do is take the media tray out of the filter, take out the mesh bag and throw away the old filter media that was inside, rinse the bag under a faucet and discard the new filter medium inside.
