Not bad but would like to improve

I bought this fridge for a day trip road trip. I liked the idea of a rotationally molded case and the dual function of device, cool box and refrigerator in one. As it turned out, it was a good thing in the end. On the 2nd day of the trip an inferior cord broke. After several repair attempts, we finally ordered a new cable and sent it to our hotel. The good news is that the cooler fridge held the temperature pretty well. When I got the replacement cord, the fridge seemed pretty efficient. I didn't measure the power output, but a review on YouTube found that the average power draw in their test was just under 10W. Of course this will go up or down depending on the ambient temperature and the setting of the cooler, but that's in line with the more expensive Dometic and ARB coolers. I've left our cooler plugged in in the car overnight a couple of times and had no problems maintaining the temperature or draining the batteries. However, the ambient temperature was cool at night. As for noise, in economy mode the radiator is quiet enough to be imperceptible in the back of an SUV. At maximum the cooler is quite noisy, too noisy to be left around while you wait for it to heat up. It made an uncomfortable ticking noise that made it worse. I can live with that hassle as I rarely need this cooling program. The molded handles are comfortable and feel solid, but the slot on the side isn't big enough to fit the hook. If you want to use brackets or bungee cords to secure the fridge, you will need to disassemble the brackets and bungee cords will most likely not fit. It gets annoying when you want to take the fridge with you at the end of the day. The last thing I want to mention is the DC-AC converter. The ICECO 45L costs less and includes both AC and DC input so you don't have to pack a bulky power converter and this cooler currently costs less money. It may seem finicky, but anyone who has ever traveled with a family knows that space can sometimes be very limited. You will also need to purchase an additional DC power cord for the power converter if you wish to leave the DC power cord in the vehicle. If you don't need the drain feature on this cooler and/or don't have an issue with the metal construction of the 45L, I'd save a few bucks and buy a cooler instead. Otherwise this fridge is good value for money if you can live with its quirks.

  • REFRIGERATOR USE
