I've lived in my house for 18 years now and my windows have rotary handles so the ACI has to take out the window with the hole to use the window. So I use a portable air conditioner with a hose so I can open the window just enough to vent the hose and I'm good to go. But in the past, the portable air conditioner wasn't as good as the window air conditioner, and I've had several. It's the best I've had and effortlessly cools a 700 square foot area. Also, the thermostat is fairly accurate and quieter than most. PS I liked it so much that I offered another one just to have it.
