As someone has pointed out, it's not 100% airtight, but the lid is a very tight fit, and a little bead of sealant too, if you're making holes or connections for the cable glands these may also need to be sealed This box may be overkill for a simple project - a plastic box or a tin box (e.g. mini boxes that I have have used). be suitable for this.
