The main purpose is not physical security, but a way what was sealed was not changed. However, I was surprised at how well the wire was clamped when soldering. Even hard pulling didn't bring the wire back. Used to protect the lock, physical evidence is required in case of forgery. Works as advertised. If the wire is cut it will fall apart, there is no way to pretend it hasn't been touched.
