Review on Pets First Oregon Harness Medium by Kimberly Sanders

Looks good but doesn't go well with our Scottish Terrier harness

Really wanted to love this harness! We have the Scotty mix and the Puppia harness suits him perfectly, but we really wanted to find a quality harness for him to wear and share our Oregon Duck pride. This pendant looks very nice, the quality of materials and workmanship is very good, but the fit is terrible. The adjustable straps allow us to attach the harness to our dog, but when we go for a walk and tie the leash on, the harness isn't secure so it slides sideways and rides up on his body, so you can't even see that Logo and feels uncomfortable. It also has a small hoody attached that serves no functional purpose - it's mesh with an open weave so it doesn't function as a rain hood or to keep you warm. I think the designer thought it had some aesthetic value, but our dog really didn't like it (plus it didn't fit) so we just cut it off. Now I'm trying to figure out how to change the harness to fit better so my dog doesn't ride up when wearing it. Maybe other dog breeds don't have the same problems as we do. Our dog is long-bodied and round (not fat); Because of his rib cage and girth, the belt starts at the back under his stomach but curls up quickly. There are also two adjustable straps, unlike the Puppia which only has one, and the bottom mesh strap that connects the two adjustable straps (one goes around the front legs and the other around the back legs) is too long. We ordered Wednesday based on the measurement guide and because our dog is long. The small one would be too short, and the large one would swim. I just want the guys at Puppi to introduce a range of colleague harnesses so we can enjoy function, fit and style all in one harness.

Pros
  • For best fit, measure your dog's circumference from the withers around the chest
Cons
  • Safety
