I bought these strips because I needed LED strips for a project, they fit perfectly. I also had to crop and restore them to the size I needed. Getting a small controller was a bonus. This allowed me to test the converted strips without connecting the Arduino. Plus, it's fun to just let them work. BTW, if you run into a problem where the LEDs are amber at full power at 12VDC at both ends of the strip, not just the input end. At full power, the voltage drop across the strip can make it difficult for the blue part of the RGB LED to end up receiving enough voltage (the blue LED has a higher voltage to turn on) and therefore appears less blue and yellow. .
