broke on installation using manufacturers torque specifications

Not sure if the sensor is metal but broke at the slightest torque on installation. If you look at the internals, it's cheap compared to OEM. Toyota unit is 10x more expensive and my Sienna has 270,000 miles so I'll buy another cheap one and try again. Came with a washer that came loose in transit and was left in the box. Be careful when unpacking so you don't throw it away if yours falls off. I recommend manually installing the machine and then letting it run until it heats up and the thermostat opens. If there is no leak, turn 1/4 turn and you're done. If it's leaking, turn it 1/4 turn and check for leaks again. If it doesn't leak, 1/4 turn and you're done. If you use torque sheets it may fail before you reach the torque specification. Since it broke during installation, I can't say anything about the function of the sensor. If your coolant temperature sensor is faulty, the check engine light will come on and you will not emit emissions until it is fixed.
